The Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia are going to launch a pilot project, To test the use of a digital ruble in certain types of budget expenditures. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov.

“Literally last week, on Friday, We gathered at Elvira Sahipzadovna [Nabiullina] on the use of a digital ruble in the budget process. And agreed on that, that starting next year we will conduct a pilot for separate expenses, where we will use the digital ruble ", - explained the official.

According to the minister, digital ruble can be used in social benefits and certain subsidies, which are directed to the procurement or the provision of certain services.

"Agreed, that we will define several such types of expenses, for which we will launch the pilot next year. The treasury received the relevant order. The Central Bank is working together with the treasury this task ", - added Siluanov.
