Canadian mining company Bitfarms plans to launch a mining center in the US state of Washington. Energy to power the equipment will be supplied from renewable sources.
As Bitfarms CEO Emiliano Grodsky said: (Emiliano Grodzki), the company bought a small hydroelectric power station with a capacity 24 MW for $26 million. In the future, Bitfarms plans to expand the generated capacity to 99 MW.
In July, the Canadian company placed in one of the data centers in Washington 4 000 ASIC miners Bitmain S19j Pro, whose total hashrate was 400 Ph.D, and power consumption – 12 MW. Now the agreement has been terminated, since Bitfarms plans to build its own mining center and place it in 6 200 devices.
“Our strategy is to expand our operations while maintaining business efficiency. To place the equipment, we choose places with inexpensive electricity, which allows us to grow and develop. The power available to us has now reached 106 MW, which will allow us to place additional equipment and increase the overall hashrate", – noted Grodsky.
At current difficulty 6 400 Bitmain S19j Pro miners can mine approximately 3.7 BTC per day. Thanks to our own energy production, the cost of each mined coin will be only about $4 000. I.e, the data center in Washington will bring the Canadian mining company approximately $183 000 per day. Recall, that the total hashrate of Bitfarms equipment in October was increased to 1.8 ORIGINAL/c.
