Cybersecurity company BlockSec experts are at a loss, why attacker, successfully hacked the Zeed protocol smart contract, did not steal the cryptocurrency available to him.
Decentralized financial systems security company BlockSec
tweeted, that the DeFi Zeed project suffered a cyber attack. According to experts, they encountered a very strange incident. Hacker, attacked the protocol through a vulnerability in the smart contract, still undecided, is it “black” or “white”. The unknown hacker not only failed to withdraw the stolen tokens, but he didn’t let others do it either.
The company clarified, what's around today 7:15 a.m. UTC (UTC, 10:15 MSC) protocol of the autonomous decentralized financial ecosystem Zeed came under attack, during which the hacker created additional rewards, which were then sold on the integrated market. As a result, the price of the site’s asset
dropped to zero.
Then the hacker, without withdrawing stolen cryptocurrencies, destroyed the compromised smart contract. PeckShield Company, specializing in blockchain security claims, that now any cryptocurrencies, placed in a smart contract, cannot be moved.
“Hacker destroys smart contract, but forgets to transfer the profit", - cybersecurity experts are surprised.
In turn, the BlockSec agency also
at a loss, Why didn’t the hacker withdraw available assets from the site to his wallet?.
"Interesting, that the attacker was prevented from withdrawing the received cryptocurrencies before the compromised contract self-destructed. He or she was probably too excited to win. Not at all clear, did something happen, what prevented the hacker from taking the tokens", - cybersecurity experts are surprised.
The DeFi developers themselves Zeed have still not commented on the statement of blockchain security companies. Therefore it is possible, that the incident was the result of an error by the developers or another “insider”.
Last week, as a result of an attack using a vulnerability in smart contracts from Elephant Money, BNB tokens and ELEPHANT platform’s own tokens were stolen for a total amount of $22 million.
