Dfinity Officially Launches Decentralized "Internet Computer" – Bits Media

After several years of waiting, Swiss non-profit organization Dfinity launches "Internet Computer" - a decentralized network for computing.

At the heart of "Internet Computer" is blockchain, allowing to combine the capacities of different data centers. According to the application developers, The project can become the basis of the new, decentralized Internet. The launch of the network should already take place 10 May.

“In its core, Internet Computer uses blockchain, which works with unlimited throughput. This allows you to solve the "blockchain trille" - compliance with the balance between decentralization, safety and scalability ", - emphasized in the statement of Dfinity Foundation.

“Trillema” is decided using a special set of cryptographic protocols called Chain Key Technology, which the developers themselves call "scientific achievement".

Internet Computer is controlled using a special algorithmic system called Network Nervous System (NNS). It is it that allows you to combine distributed data centers into a single network. 10 May NNS will launch the process of “initial unlocking” - ICP tokens to control the network.

Currently, the Dfinity project is supported 48 Date-centers and 1 300 specially designed "nodal computers". They are located in North America, Europe and Asia. Developers hope, that by the end of the year on the network will work 123 Date Center and more 4 300 nodes.

"For 10 the technological community is aware of the years, that Internet Computer is moving towards, to once become the main computing platform for creating software. On its database you can build "Open Internet", free from the monopolies of large technological companies ", - believes the founder and chief researcher Dfinity Dominic Williams (Dominic Williams).

Previously expected, that "Internet Computer" will be launched at the end 2020 of the year, However, the launch was postponed. In the middle of last year, Dfinity provided access to technology to third -party developers.
