Facebook rejects Andrew Forrest's allegations, stated, what, because the businessman has a Facebook account, actually, he agreed to the terms of service.
In early February, Australian billionaire and chairman of Fortescue Metals Andrew Forrest (Andrew Forrest) filed a civil lawsuit against Facebook, in which he stated, that the social network facilitated millions of dollars in cryptocurrency fraud. The plaintiff argued, that Facebook allowed scammers to host several digital currency advertisements in Forrest's name.
Forrest's lawyers argued, that the social network not only provides scammers with tools to implement schemes, but also uses user data. However, the social network rejected the accusations, stated, that the company's terms of service protect it from liability. And since Forrest has an official Facebook account, it means, that the businessman agreed to the terms of service.
"In particular, in section 4.3 TOS is clearly stated, that the social network does not control the actions and statements of people and other persons, does not manage them and is not responsible for their actions and behavior (on the Internet and offline) and any content, which they share (including offensive, irrelevant, obscene, illegal or otherwise objectionable)», - Facebook said in a statement.
Last December it became known, that Facebook will soften the conditions for advertising cryptocurrencies.
