Chinese mining company The9 will build a farm with a capacity 100 MW in Kazakhstan – Bits Media

Shanghai-based mining company The9 signed an investment deal with partner KazDigital to build a large data center with a capacity 100 MW in Kazakhstan to host ASIC miners.

Construction should be completed in the first quarter of next year. The project is split into four phase. Power centers will be launched within each phase 25 MW, and the first phase has already been completed. The9 made in Kazakhstan 1 000 devices for, to test the farm. The equipment will be operated by a local partner.

Запреты на майнинг в Китае заставляют местных майнеров искать варианты размещения оборудования за рубежом. The9 owns over, than 35 000 legacy devices, which were located in the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu and Inner Mongolia. Besides, the company bought more 24 000 ASIC miners Antminer S19j at Bitmain - deliveries should begin in November.

Earlier, The9 signed an agreement with the Russian company Bitriver on the placement of mining equipment in Russia with a total capacity 15 MW. Looks like, that this capacity of the Chinese company is not enough, and it will be more profitable to build data centers from scratch in Kazakhstan.
