Meta presented a supercomputer for AI development Research SuperCluster – Bits Media

Meta introduced the Research SuperCluster supercomputer for the development of next-generation AI, which will “set the stage” for the creation of the metaverse.

Technology company Meta unveils its own supercomputer, Research SuperCluster (RSC), which will help in development of “advanced” artificial intelligence. The computer is already running and, as the company says, this will be the fastest computer in the world.

The RSC is planned to be put into operation by the middle of 2022 of the year. According to Meta, developing the next generation of AI will require enormous power and computers, capable of performing quintillions of operations per second. The company notes:

“In the long term, the RSC will pave the way for the next wave of computing technology – the metaverse, where are the apps and products, AI controlled, will play an important role".

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hopes, that RSC will help the company create new AI systems, which will become an integral part of everyday life. He gave the example of real-time voice translation, who will help people, speaking different languages, work together on a project or play an augmented reality game.

Decentralized Finance Analyst Camille Russo (Camilla Russo) compared Research SuperCluster with the Ethereum network, considered by some to be a global supercomputer.

"Meta creates a supercomputer, to monetize user data in your metaverse. Ethereum develops global supercomputer, so that users can control their data themselves. Feel the difference", – said Russo.

In mid-January it became known, that Meta is luring developers from Microsoft and Apple. From Microsoft alone, more went to Meta 100 Human, to create metaverses.
