The Ministry of Economic Development proposed to limit the use of energy for individual miners – Bits Media

The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation sent a document to the Ministry of Finance, which proposes to limit the threshold of energy consumption for mining by individuals.

As Gazeta.Ru reports with reference to sources in the Ministry of Economic Development, department proposes to introduce a certain threshold and establish a social norm for electricity consumption for individual miners. but, exact restrictions have not yet been determined.

The agency also proposes to provide miners with connections to energy sources at reduced rates.. I.e, they won't pay like a business, and less. Reduced tariffs should apply to miners regardless of the point of technological connection. Especially, if the mining rig is installed at a place where energy is generated.

The department considers regions with a surplus of electricity generation to be the most suitable for mining.. Among them is Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and Murmansk regions, Khabarovsk and Krasnoyarsk Territories, and also the Republic of Khakassia. Installing farms in these regions will reduce the risks of energy shortages for the residential sector, social and industrial facilities.

Recall, that the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation recently submitted to the government an updated version of the draft law “On Digital Currency”. The main focus of the document is on mining.
