Nvidia is not sure about the effectiveness of hashrate limits on its video cards – Bits Media

American company Nvidia, producing video accelerators and special mining devices, I’m not sure about the effectiveness of measures to limit hashrate when mining cryptocurrencies on “civilian” cards.

In its quarterly report, the company noted, what management "cannot predict, will the strategy for issuing cards with mining restrictions allow (LHR) and special products for mining (CMP) achieve our goals". Moreover, for more than a year now, almost all video cards of the Ampere generation have been produced with protection against mining.

Interesting, what, according to Nvidia CFO Colette Kress (Colette Kress), decrease in the growth rate of cryptocurrency hashrate, mined using gaming video cards, indicates the success of measures to limit.

The authors of the report also noted the risk of a fall in the cryptocurrency market. This will lead to that, that demand for Nvidia products will decrease significantly, and then used video cards will flood into the market, which were previously used for mining. What, in its turn, will further reduce demand and force the company to reduce production volume.

At the beginning of the month, NiceHash announced, that in the mining product the developers managed to completely bypass Nvidia’s hashrate restrictions when mining ETH on gaming video cards.
