An error in the code on OpenSea led to burning 42 NFT на $100 000 – Bits Media

Due to an error in the OpenSea platform code, 42 collectible tokens worth about $100 000 were randomly sent to the address, used to destroy tokens.

About it
tweeted the lead developer of the Ethereum Domain Name System (TO US) Nick Johnson (Nick Johnson). He reported, who owns rilxxlir.eth, first name in ENS, registered in 2017 year.

According to Johnson, this domain belonged to the ENS account, although it was registered and paid for by Johnson. The developer decided to auction rilxxlir.eth as an NFT. Before you do this, he tried to send it via OpenSea to his address (nick.eth), however the collection token was sent to 0x0000…0000edd899b - OpenSea address, designed for burning tokens.

Talking to platform support, Johnson found out, that he was the first victim of the bug, affecting all transfers of ERC-721 tokens to ENS names. As reported by the developer, OpenSea has already fixed the error. However, Johnson later found out, that there are several other users, who lost in the same way 42 NFT worth approx. $99 000. “Burnt” tokens were part of the Art Blocks collections, Bloot и The Sevens.

Some victims too
tweeted about what happened. They demand clarification from OpenSea and want to know, does the platform plan to compensate them?, to compensate for damage, resulting from an error. OpenSea has not yet commented on the situation.

At the end of August, many users suffered from fake OpenSea technical support, losing all your collectible tokens. Besides, last week on the OpenSea platform a scammer sold a fake NFT for $338 000, but then returned the money to the buyer.
