EasyFi project lost $6 million as a result of hacker attacks – Bits Media

EasyFi decentralized finance project attacked by hackers, which brought tokens from liquidity pools to $6 million. The project team revealed the details of the hack.

As EasyFi founder and CEO Ankitt Gaur said in a blog post (Ankitt Gaur), the attack was targeted and well planned. Hackers 19 April got remote access to Gour's computer and compromised the keys to the MetaMask wallet, through which you got access to liquidity pools with DAI and USDT. Also, hackers were able to steal 2.98 million EASY tokens. The founder emphasized, that the smart contracts of the project are not compromised.

“The computer was used quite rarely and exclusively for official translations. The hackers waited for the right moment and carried out a well-planned attack. ", - posted by Ankitt Gaur.

At the same time, hackers were unable to quickly sell EASY tokens due to low liquidity.. EasyFi CEO suggested to cybercriminals $1 million in case of return of stolen assets. After the information about the hack appeared, the EASY token rate fell from $26 to $13.5, however, later recovered somewhat to $18.

This hack once again proves that, that "decentralized projects" are not always really decentralized. Developers and owners of such projects often have all the keys for full access to tokens.. In December 2020 of the year, a similar incident happened with the founder of the Nexus Mutual project Hugh Karp (Hugh Karp). But then the attackers only got access to Karp's personal wallet..

In March, hackers gained access to the Chinese decentralized exchange DODO and were able to steal assets on $3.8 million.
