RKN unblocked Bits.media: the editors are seeking to have the court decision overturned – Bits Media

Bits.media website from Tuesday, 5 july, again available in the Russian Federation. However, the editors intend to continue the fight against the unfair court verdict.

The editors of Bits.media managed to get the decision of Roskomnadzor overturned (RKN) about entering into
blacklist запрещенных сайтов. Специалисты редакции выяснили, что в закрытых от публики строках вердикта Волжского райсуда города Саратова значится URL агрегатора обменников по адресу bits.media/exchanger. Страницу пришлось временно отключить, after which RKN allowed providers to restore access to the media site.

The editors believe, что еще четыре скрытых в том же тексте решения провинциального суда URL являются адресами криптообменников.

Руководство Bits.media намерено довести судебное разбирательство до конца, as he thinks, that monitoring of exchangers was prohibited illegally.

“We consider the court’s decision illegal and will seek its cancellation, — says the creator of Bits.media Ivan Tikhonov. — We have decided to disable the page that was the subject of the investigation, so that the site remains available during the trials".

Lawyers from Digital Rights Center will help Bits.media to overturn the court decision. These are specialists in the field of cyber law, who have extensive experience in supporting blockchain and fintech projects, as well as in the fight against illegal blocking of sites.

It was they who successfully achieved unblocking of the Bestchange exchanger aggregator two years ago and proved during the trial, that the prosecutor’s office and the court violated substantive and procedural law - since the civil circulation of cryptocurrencies in the Russian Federation is not prohibited, and the parties to the case must be able to exercise their rights, guaranteed by the Code of Administrative Procedure. Digital Rights Center lawyers have other successful cases to their credit, - For example, related to
blocking the news portal Bitcoininfo.ru and
crypto exchange Binance.

While the site remained on the blacklist, in the Russian Federation, in fact, access to the two largest Russian-language cryptomedia at once was limited - Forklog.com and Bits.media. Roskomnadzor restricted access to the Forklog magazine in early April - also, as is the case with Bits.media, without warning and without explanation. The blacklisting occurred a few days after, how the magazine’s editors condemned the military special operation in Ukraine. Forklog remains blocked to this day, insofar as, according to the Prosecutor General's Office, contains information prohibited for distribution in Russia.
