United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) once again postponed the deadline for consideration of applications for launching exchange-traded funds (ETF) of bitcoin. Four applications were postponed.
We are talking about applications, submitted by Global X companies, Valkyrie, WisdomTree и Kryptoin. New dates reviewing documents – 21 November, 8, 11 and 24 December, respectively. Previous Kryptoin applications, WisdomTree and Valkyrie have already been postponed at least once each.
“The Commission finds it advisable to assign a longer period of consideration, during which you can approve, and reject the proposed rule change. This way the Commission will have enough time, to consider the rule change and related issues", – emphasized in the regulator’s statements.
The SEC has repeatedly refused to respond to such applications., after all, attempts to launch Bitcoin ETFs have been ongoing since 2017 of the year. At the same time, the regulator is constantly receiving new applications to launch cryptocurrency ETFs - more than ten such applications are currently being considered by the SEC.
Interesting, that Commission Chairman Gary Gensler (Gary Gensler) supports the launch of a narrow class of Bitcoin ETFs, who will invest in futures contracts, and not into the cryptocurrency itself. The SEC has already received several applications to launch such funds.
