The trial of the head of Bitmex Gregory Duir was postponed until October 2022 of the year – Bits Media

Trial of Gregory Dwyer, Head of Business Development, BitMEX Derivatives Exchange, postponed until October 2022 years in connection with his extradition from Bermuda to the United States.

(Benjamin work) in violation of the Bank Secrecy Act, illegal conduct of business in the USA and non-compliance with KYC and AML procedures.

In August, BitMEX announced a settlement with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. (CFTC) and the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), agreeing to pay compensation in the amount $110 million. However, the US Department of Justice continues to prosecute BitMEX executives for violating the Bank Secrecy Act. The prosecutor's office claims, that Dwyer had great influence on the activities of the exchange and was aware of illegal activities, undertaken by BitMEX.

In March Hayes, Delo and Reed surrendered to US authorities, and in case, Суд над бывшими руководителями BitMEX должен состояться в марте 2022 of the year. (John Koeltl) agreed to Dwyer's lawyers' request to postpone the trial until October next year. Dwyer's defense argues, that their client did not have that much time to prepare for trial,

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Lewis (Damian Lewis) protested the postponement of the trial date. According to him, Dwyer knew, that the CFTC has been investigating BitMEX since at least April 2019 of the year. The prosecutor believes, that Dwyer would have had the same amount of time to prepare for trial, if he had surrendered to US authorities earlier, however, he did not take advantage of this opportunity. Lewis stated, что проведение судебного процесса над тремя руководителями BitMEX предоставит Дуайеру несправедливое преимущество, поскольку ему уже будут известны доказательства, which the prosecutor's office plans to use against him. Despite the prosecutor's arguments, the judge rejected his protest.

BitMEX recently announced plans to launch 450 million BMEX tokens,
