Clandestine mining farm discovered in Moscow, which consumed electricity 500 000 rubles per day. Miners were illegally connected to the Rosseti line.
As a representative of the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor's Office told the TASS agency (MMTP) Ekaterina Korotkova, unauthorized connection to power grids and illegal occupation of land for the operation of mining equipment was revealed during the inspection.
“Installed, that the equipment is illegally connected to the cable line, owned by PJSC “Rosseti Moscow region”. The cost of illegally consumed electricity to power computer equipment amounted to more than 500 000 rubles per day", – Korotkova emphasized.
No details yet, but, Considering, that a criminal case was initiated by the transport prosecutor's office, and the transport police participated in the investigation, it seems, a mining farm was discovered in one of the transportation companies. Considering the amount of energy consumed, the number of ASIC miners on the underground farm could reach 2 000 units.
Currently, prosecutors have opened a criminal case under article 165 UK RF (causing property damage by deception or breach of trust). The case is under the personal control of the Northern Transport Prosecutor.
Earlier, the governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, said, that over the past year, electricity consumption among the population has increased by 159%. He blames illegal miners in this, since cryptocurrency mining equipment consumes a lot of energy.
