The authorities of the Sverdlovsk region announced the appearance of a data center, which can also be used for cryptocurrency mining. The amount of investments in the project should be compiled from 1 billion rubles.

The possibility of building a data center was discussed by regional officials with Bitriver and other participants in the cryptocurrency market in the summer, During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“In the construction of the data center, the investor cannot always fill all its capacities on 100%. therefore, in principle, We see as a region for ourselves, that these investors could use part of the capacities, including for the purposes of cryptocurrency mining ", - explains the deputy governor of the Sverdlovsk region Dmitry Ionin.

The official clarifies, that the region will be glad only to large investors, ready for investments in the project, taking into account the construction and purchase of equipment in the amount from 1 billion rubles. Dmitry Ionin assured, that there are enough places in the Sverdlovsk region, where there is an excess of electricity, and the region can provide investors with a choice of several sites for the implementation of this project.
