The decentralized finance industry remains vulnerable to hackers. But this time the danger was averted - validators of the Synapse Bridge internetwork protocol prevented the theft of assets on $8 million.
Attackers tried to steal tokens from the Neutral Dollar Metapool in Avalache networks. To do this, they were going to use the Synapse Bridge between the Polygon and Avalanche networks. However, Synapse Bridge validators detected suspicious activity and blocked the operation of smart contracts. After this, they were jointly able to cancel the transaction before it was approved and the assets were not released on the desired blockchain and were sent to the hacker’s address.
“Over the past hours we have encountered a contract error, which allows you to influence the calculation of the asset price against the base price. Validators canceled the transaction - they released nUSD tokens into the hacked liquidity pools. Thus, all nUSD tokens on the Avalache network remained safe.", - reported
Synapse Protocol developers on their Discord server.
After this, the work of Synapse Bridge smart contracts was restored, and all user transactions have been processed. Besides, protocol representatives notified Saddle of the vulnerability, developer of Metapool pool contracts.
The bZx lending protocol was recently hacked. Attackers gained access to keys for smart contracts in the Polygon and Binance Smart Chain networks, which led to the loss of assets on $55 million.
